It has been reported that Manchester United’s new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger has dismissed comparisons between himself and Paul Scholes.
United fans have been crying out for a quality midfielder for many years now and their wish has finally been granted this summer, as the club completed the signing of German star Schweinsteiger.
United fans are understandably excited at the arrival of Schweinsteiger and many feel that the 30-year old can fill the void in midfield which has been prevalent since the retirement of Paul Scholes back in 2012.
However, Schweinsteiger has played down such comparisons with Scholes and stated that it is impossible for anyone to achieve what the former England international did at Old Trafford.
Speaking to reporters, Schweinsteiger said: “It is not easy to say that kind of midfield can happen the same again. Roy Keane and Paul Scholes were unbelievable players.
“You cannot compare yourself to them. It is impossible. Scholes especially I like him a lot and I have a lot of respect for what he did for United.”
