Should Ronaldo Be Included In The Brazil World Cup Squad?

Brazil coach Dunga has named his 23-man provisional squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Clearly he has left AC Milan playmaker Ronaldinho out of the squad but should he include Corinthians striker Ronaldo?

The current strikers for Brazil are Robinho (Santos), Luís Fabiano (Sevilla), Nilmar (Villarreal) and Grafite (VfL Wolfsburg) and we at TFM seriously believe that Ronaldo could still do a job for the Brazilian national side.

33 year old Ronaldo has so far made 21 appearance for Corinthians and scored 13 goals along the way. So, does he have a soft spot for scoring goals? We certainly believe so.

For all of you who may not know, Ronaldo was one of the most prolific scorers in the 1990s and in the early 21st century.

Ronaldo won his first Ballon d’Or as the European Footballer of the Year in 1997 and again in 2002. He is also one of only two men to have won the FIFA Player of the Year award three times, along with French footballer Zinedine Zidane.

Ronaldo has played for Brazil in 97 international matches, amassing 62 goals. He was a part of the Brazilian squad that won the 1994, and 2002 World Cups.

During the 2006 World Cup, Ronaldo became the highest goalscorer in the history of the World Cup with his fifteenth goal, surpassing Gerd Müller’s previous record of 14.

Ronaldo recently scored a late winner as Corinthians kicked off the Campeonato Brasileiro with a 2-1 victory over nine-man Atletico Paranaense.

We at TFM hope that Ronaldo will go to the World Cup this year as he is the kind of a player who can change a game in a flash. He does not necessary need to play the entire game for Brazil and he can be used as a substitute when needed.

Ronaldo also once declared that he will put in extra effort to get in shape for the 2010 World Cup. We at TFM believe that Ronaldo has made an amazing recovery from his injury and he should be definitely rewarded with a call up to the Brazilian national side.

The World Cup would definitely be more exciting with Ronaldo in it, eventhough he will only play a bit part.
