Sir Alex Ferguson has heaped praise on match-winner Wayne Rooney for his performance against Chelsea.
The 25-year old striker put the bad press behind him to score the only goal at Stamford Bridge and the Manchester United manager said it was a great attribute of the England international to not worry about the Football Association ban hanging over his head for abusive language.
Ferguson told ITV1 : “Wayne just played his game. He got a lot of abuse and late tackles but he played his game and that shows the courage of the players,”.
“He was important on the counter-attack and he was in tremendous form and he has given us a great chance of reaching the semi.”
