More transfer news are out and it has been reported that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is settling on CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev as the man to succeed Edwin van der Sar.
Local British newspapers have reported that Ferguson has revealed that he will move for Russioan international Akinfeev if Dutch goalkeeper Van der Sar decides to retire.
The 23-year-old, who became Russia’s youngest international at 18 years and 20 days, will play for CSKA when they entertain United in the Champions League on Wednesday week.
It is believed that Akinfeev is already preparing himself for a move to the Premiership, having begun taking English lessons since the end of last season.
