Nigeria’s disgraced midfielder Sani Kaita has been sent death threats after his red card in the 2-1 loss to Greece.
Kaita, now age 24, was sent off after kicking out at rival Vasilis Torosidis when the Super Eagles were 1-0 ahead.
Nigeria spokesman Peterside Idah said: “Kaita has received more than 1,000 threats to his e-mail from within Nigeria.
“We are taking these threats very seriously.We’ve spoken to the Nigerian government and written to FIFA.”
