Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has put a smile on manager Rafa Benitez’s face last night when he signed his two year contract extension with Liverpool.
Gerrard has insisted that this will likely be his last deal and is seriously considering quitting football after it ends when he will be 33.
It has been reported that Reds boss Benitez has already secured Dirk Kuyt, Fernando Torres, Yossi Benayoun and Daniel Agger on long-term deals this summer.
But Benitez is now battling to keep midfield stars Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso out of the clutches of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
