More transfer news are out and it has been reported that Stoke City have confirmed they are considering a shock move to sign West Ham’s England striker Dean Ashton.
Ashton, 25, was tipped to play a starring role in the last Premier League campaign but he was unable to take the field at all after September 13 because of an ankle injury.
It was the second time that Ashton who made his England bow against Trinidad and Tobago in June 2008 – had missed almost an entire season. The striker previously broke his ankle during a training session with the national team and saw 2006-07 season wiped out as a result.
But that has not put off Stoke boss Tony Pulis, who would jump at the chance to sign the former Norwich and Crewe frontman and give him the chance to revive his career.
Stoke chairman Peter Coates also admitted that the Potters would be interested in signing former England forward Michael Owen from Newcastle has confirmed that Pulis had approached the Hammers over Ashton.
