Reports are out claiming that former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Arsenal’s 2-1 win over North London rivals Tottenham in the League Cup has eased the pressure on Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
Speaking in his role as a pundit for Sky Sports, Redknapp said the result would go some way to silencing the criticism that has been recently directed at Wenger for Arsenal’s lack of spending during the summer transfer window.
“Already people are asking why he didn’t buy any outfield players. If he had lost that game tonight the pressure going to Leicester would have been immense,” Redknapp explained.
“The training ground is going to be a different place now. Because when you win a derby game it means so much more of feels so much more.
“It’s a huge result in the bigger scheme of things for Arsene Wenger.”
