Great news for all Manchester United fans as goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar will make his much-anticipated return from injury when appearing for Manchester United reserves against Everton on Tuesday.
Van der Sar has not featured for Manchester United yet this season after breaking two bones in his left hand during a pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich.
In his absence, Ben Foster has been installed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s stand-in number one but the England international has failed to fully convince, looking culpable when Kenwyne Jones put Sunderland 2-1 in front at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Van der Sar’s return will therefore be welcomed by the English champions with the 38-year-old penciled in to start in the second-string tie against Everton in Widnes.
The Dutch international goalkeeper joined Manchester United from Fulham in 2001 and has made 132 Premier League appearances for the club.
