Van der Vaart rules out transfer: ‘I’ve only been here for 1 season’

Rafael van der Vaart wants to play Europese next season. Participation in the Europe League is something the Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder does not view as a step back, unlike his coach Harry Redknapp. The Londoners are currently keeping up at the fifth place, with only one more match day to go, the last spot which gives right to participate in the second most important European clubtournament.

”We always want to play European”, is what Van der Vaart says last Tuesday in an interview with The Guardian. Participating in the Europe League is a positive expierence and it would be nice if we could win the tournament, so why not? I love to be playing every 2-3 days every year. European football is very important. Everybody sees that the our Champions League adventure has helped us a lot. It is import for the players to end fifth.”

The absence of Tottenham in the Champions League is not a reason for Van der Vaart to leave White Hart Lane after only one season. ” Of course I want to play Champions League every season, that’s what every player wants”, insures  the international. ” But I have only been playing for Tottenham for one season and I am enjoying it to the fullest. We shall see what next season will get us. This season we left alot of points against the more smaller teams, that’s a shame.
