Reports have emerged claiming that Wayne Rooney is eyeing the derby with Manchester City as his comeback game.
The Manchester United striker is out of action after suffering a horrific gash to his forehead during a training ground clash with team-mate Phil Jones.
David Moyes had initially ruled the England international out for three weeks after United’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on September 1.
That would take Rooney’s recovery timescale right up to the September 22 showdown with local and title rivals City at the Etihad Stadium, says the Mirror.
However it is understood Rooney – who has been on a sunshine break in Portugal with his family while he recuperates – now has a chance of facing City.
