Reports are out claiming that West Ham United are confident seeing off Liverpool competition to keep hold of Alex Song.
The Mirror reported that the 27-year-old midfielder – who spoke earlier this season of growing up idolising Kop hero Steven Gerrard – has been hugely impressive since moving to Upton Park on loan from Barcelona in the summer.
So much so that the Hammers already have a lucrative deal on the table to entice him to commit his future to the club.
Song, however, wants to play in the Champions League next season and is delaying his decision until the end of the current campaign. That has allowed the Anfield giants to express their interest.
But the Londoners remain confident – despite their recent dip in League form – that they will be able to sustain a challenge.
They are also heartened by the fact that the former Arsenal midfielder enjoys living in London and that his wife is also happy in the capital.
