Reports are out claiming that Petr Cech equalled David James’ clean sheet record thanks to Arsenal’s 2-0 victory at Aston Villa on Sunday.
The Czech Republic international managed his 169th shut out in the Premier League to join former Liverpool, Villa, West Ham United, Manchester City and Portsmouth gloveman James.
Just one more clean sheet and Chelsea legend Cech will break the record which will be thoroughly deserved according to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
“I don’t believe that anyone still questions Petr Cech,” Wenger said.
“He’s an all-time great in goal and the record speaks for him.”
33-year-old Cech kept 162 clean sheets during his 11-year spell at Chelsea and has added a further seven in 16 league appearances since joining Arsenal in the summer.
