Reports have emerged claiming that Jamie Carragher is of the belief that Arsenal may have to wait another 10 years if they fail to win this season’s Premier League title.
The Gunners will enter 2016 on top of the table and as favourites to take out the 2015/16 premiership which would end a 12-year drought.
In what has been a bizarre first half of the campaign, Arsenal are looking the goods ahead of Manchester City, who have at times been mediocre in defence, while regular challengers Chelsea and Manchester United have dropped right off the pace.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher suggests that Arsene Wenger’s side have the perfect opportunity to clinch the title but fears for them if they fail to take advantage in the second half of the season.
“If Arsenal don’t win it this year, I think it could be another 10 years before they win it again,” he said on Sky Sports.
“Chelsea won’t accept the situation they’re in, they’ll throw a lot of money at it in the summer, they’ll get another manager. I think Man City may do the same even if they win it.
“I think Manchester United, talking about Louis van Gaal, looking at the squad – is it good enough? So those three teams, they’ve all faltered.
“This is Arsenal’s big chance, they have to take it. Whether that means spending again in January… but this is an opportunity they can’t let slip.”
