The name Oguchi Onyewu probably wasn’t the name the Milan fans expected to hear as their first signing since Kaka’s mega deal but that is what they got.Milan have quickly wrapped up a deal for United States centre back Oguchi Onyewu in a bid to quell supporter unrest over their transfer policy.
The 27-year-old (pictured, right), who impressed in the US side’s run to the Confederations Cup final last month, has joined on a free transfer from Standard Liege and penned a three-year contract.
The club announced the signing on their website and pointed out he holds a Belgian passport, which means Onyewu will not count as one of only two non-EU players Italian sides are allowed to sign each season.
Could this be a good coup too ala the Michael Owen saga? I mean he seems pretty decent, tall and aggresive and kinda reminds me of Chelsea’s Alex and to top it all he was signed on a free transfer, good deal i think.
