Newly appointed Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti strongly believes that his reputation as a ferocious midfielder with two European Cup winner’s medals will earn him the respect of his Chelsea players.
The new Blues boss told reporters that as a player he was not always quiet and that on the field he was a fighter and didn’t want the opponent to come into his territory. Ancelotti then said that now it is about the players having respect for his position as the coach.
The former AC Milan manager also said that he has to make the decisions and at the same time have respect for the players and this is his system to bring forward a relationship.
Ancelotti’s charges will have to be aware of their boss’s style and have a work-rate to match. He also sent out a warning to the players that their work is to stay every day on the field and to work hard at training.
Ancelotti will be without banned Didier Drogba for four Champions League games in the new season but says, as a former player, he understands the striker’s emotion. Ancelotti said that he was a player and knows that it can happen, where in a moment, in a game, the mind is not cold, the player will get carried away.
Ancelotti’s major task this week will be to convince captain John Terry not to leave for Manchester City but it is believed that Terry’s representatives met owner Roman Abramovich over the weekend.
