Arsenal boss Wenger Insists Two-Goal Display Of New Father Giroud Will ‘Give Him Euphoria’

Reports have emerged claiming that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Olivier Giroud will feel euphoric after helping his side progress to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The French international striker ended an 11-game run without a goal by scoring a brace in the Gunners’ 4-0 win over Hull City in the fifth round replay at the KC Stadium which Wenger believes will give him plenty of assurance for the remainder of the season.

“Giroud had gone a while without a goal and that will help him tonight,” said Wenger.

“He became [the father] of a young boy last night and that will certainly give him euphoria.”

The Arsenal boss also explained his reasoning for starting Giroud ahead of Danny Welbeck who was left out of the squad after playing 85 minutes of Saturday’s North London derby.

“I think in the end you make a decision and you hope it is the right one,” he added.

“I made the decision to play him and he wants to always play and all the other players want to play and that is quite normal.

“People are sometimes surprised that players want to play. Believe me, you don’t play at that level if you don’t want to play.”

Arsenal will next meet Watford at home in the final eight of the cup competition on Sunday.
