Reports have emerged claiming that Arsenal are lining up Thierry Henry for a significant role within the club’s youth academy.
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are set up shake up their academy coaching setup this summer and reportedly want strike legend Henry to be a key component.
The Frenchman has recently undertaken his UEFA coaching badges and has worked at the Hale End academy with various age groups, impressing the Arsenal hierarchy in the process.
While his commitments as a pundit on Sky Sports need to be taken into consideration, the North London club are determined to have Henry make the step up to a coaching role with the U18s who have lost Frans de Kat.
Academy chief Andries Jonker could be removed from his post this summer while U16s coach Jan van Loon is also expected to leave at season’s end which has prompted the club to ponder the appointment Henry.
It is also believed that current club captain Mikel Arteta, who is a reported coaching target for incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, could be offered a key role within the academy.
