Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has revealed that he will not give up on Spain.
The 30 year old was again overlooked by coach Vicente Del Bosque for Wednesday’s friendly in Panama, while Cazorla, who has won 50 caps, is in the 19-man party.
Arteta told Sky Sports: “I’ll keep trying and I’ll never lose that desire. To have the opportunity to win things for Spain while enjoying your football, as these players have had, would be special. I’m envious of that and it annoys me that I haven’t been able to enjoy it.
“I’m still at a good age and I’m at a great point in my career on a sporting and personal level. I hope I have the chance to play alongside these players, even if it’s once.”
