It has been reported that Arsene Wenger was able to convince Alexis Sanchez about a move to Arsenal after chatting one-on-one with the Barcelona attacker.
The Daily Express reported that Spanish sources state Wenger made a surprise visit to meet with Sanchez during the World Cup and convince him to make the move to England with the Gunners.
Sanchez was already contemplating a move away from Barcelona but reportedly preferred a return to Italy, where he had played previously with Udinese.
But Wenger told Sanchez about the benefits of playing in the Premier League and assured the Chilean that he would have no difficulty adapting to English football.
The French tactician also insisted that he had long admired Sanchez from afar and had followed his career since he was in Argentina with River Plate.
Significantly, Wenger promised Sanchez around £135,000 a week in wages, putting him on a par with the likes of Mesut Ozil at the Emirates.
The reports suggest that within hours of the meeting Sanchez told his agent, Fernando Felicevich, that is was now his strong preference to join the Gunners.
