Arsene Wenger Arsene Wenger Delivers Update On Francis Coquelin Injury

Reports are out claiming that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not too sure of the current status of midfielder Francis Coquelin.

Francis Coquelin 2

The French defensive midfielder had his nose broken in an aerial collision with teammate Olivier Giroud in the second half of the Gunners’ 2-0 home win over Everton on Sunday.

With just over 20 minutes remaining, Coquelin had to come off for treatment before again copping a knock which led to his 89th minute substitution and subsequent doubt for Wednesday’s trip to QPR.

“I don’t know,” Wenger said when asked how long Coquelin would be out.

“I don’t know whether he will need surgery or not. They told me he was bleeding but that he could stay on. The second time he was hit again so after that I had to take him off.

“I had been told by the medical people that he could stay on.

“He wanted to stay on. He didn’t play here for a long time so now that he plays, of course he doesn’t want to come off the pitch.”
