It has been reported that Arsene Wenger has criticised Chelsea over their imminent sale of Juan Mata to Manchester United.
The deal could breathe life into the defending champions’ season, a move which the Arsenal boss is struggling to understand.
Wenger, forgetting about his sale of Robin van Persie to United, said this morning: “I’m surprised Mata is allowed to go because he is a great player. And Chelsea are strengthening a direct opponent.
“It opens up transfer market, Chelsea don’t play United again. They could have sold Mata two weeks ago.”
