Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has been handed an England lifeline after Robert Green’s red card.
The Manchester United second choice goalkeeper missed out on the Three Lions squad after a series of errors but with West Ham star Green suspended for the match with Belarus at Wembley on Wednesday, Foster has been recalled.
Green was given his marching orders after bringing down Artem Milveskiy in the box in last night’s 1-0 defeat to Ukraine.
Ex-Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko missed the spot-kick but Sergiy Nazarenko netted to give the hosts victory.
Foster has been hit by critisicm of his performances for United over recent weeks ans he was blamed for two Manchester City goals in the Old Trafford derby last month.
Foster was also brushed aside far too easily by Sunderland’s Kenwyne Jones in United’s 2-2 draw last weekend.
