French striker Karim Benzema has revealed that he rejected English champions Manchester United to join Real Madrid. It was a wide known fact that the £30million rated striker was a long-term target for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
But in the end, the lure of playing in the Bernabeu was too much for the France international. Benzema said to reporters that there were quite a few clubs that contacted him like Manchester United, Inter Milan and Barcelona, but he made the decision to play for Real Madrid.
The player also said that he has dreamed about playing for Real since he was 15 years old.
Benzema also went on to say that he don’t want to promise a set number of goals, although he hopes to score a lot and added that with players like Kaka, Ronaldo and Raul, it will be very easy for the team to get goals.
The French international striker also added that he is aware that there is great competition at the club and that he can’t always play but said that he has come to Real to fight, so that will not be a problem.
