Reports are out claiming that Chelsea are ready to up their bid for West Ham United midfielder Alex Song.
Chelsea see Song as an alternative to Zenit St Petersburg ace Axel Witsel.
The London Evening Standard says Chelsea want to sign another central midfielder with John Obi Mikel set to depart after nine years at the club.
They have been given the chance of securing a cheaper option in Song, who was on loan at West Ham this season from Barcelona.
West Ham have yet to agree a deal with the Champions League winners for the 27-year-old.
Barcelona are asking for £5m for a player that would count toward Chelsea’s home grown quota due to him joining and playing for Arsenal as a teenager.
