It has been reported that Holland coach Guus Hiddink says Stefan de Vrij is a better player for moving to Lazio.
The former Feyenoord captain is this week being linked with Manchester United.
“He is in Italy and has become much more aware of what top football demands. Such things you do not learn in the Netherlands,” said Hiddink.
“Sometimes a defender keeps the ball too long (in Holland). Or a midfielder uses three, four touches before passing. Such risks are unnecessary.
“In Spain or Italy this is not accepted.”
