Internazionale climbed to fifth in Serie A after a pulsating 5-2 win over Parma at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza inspired by Dejan Stankovic’s hat-trick.
Parma took a deserved lead after just four minutes courtesy of Hernan Crespo, who returned to haunt his former employers with a deft finish to Angelo’s near-post cross.
But Inter turned the match on its head with three goals in five incredible minutes.
Dejan Stankovic got the ball rolling with the equaliser after 18 minutes.
The ball fell to the midfielder 25 yards out and his effort deflected off Lucarelli in the bottom corner.
Less than 60 seconds Stankovic had his – and Inter’s – second of the game.
Jonathan Biabiany charged into the penalty area and cut the ball back for Stankovic. His first-time effort took another deflection, this time off Antonelli, to beat Mirante in the Parma goal.
Four minutes later Esteban Cambiasso capped an amazing period of play when he tapped in Lucio’s near-post flick from Wesley Sneijder’s corner.
Parma and Crespo were not finished and the club’s all-time leading scorer struck from 20 yards to give Parma hope at half-time.
Parma had second-half chances through Crespo and Angelo but Inter added to their tally through Motta’s six-yard volley and then Stankovic’s 20 yard strike to complete his hat-trick.
The victory will go some way to alleviating the pressure on Inter manager Rafa Benitez, whose side had drawn criticism after two defeats in their previous two Serie A games.
