Reports are out claiming that Arsenal chief Ivan Gazidis has defended club owner Stan Kroenke to the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust.
In a meeting with the AST on Friday night Gazidis offered fulsome praise for Kroenke, particularly noting how he had encouraged Arsene Wenger to loosen the financial reigns.
Arsenal’s CEO said: “What you’re getting for your money is mainly what you see on the pitch, but also he upholds our club values. I understand that when we are frustrated, maybe we want to kick the dog, it’s difficult for me to understand the disconnect that appears to exist.
“What we have is an owner who has been nothing but supportive, for me, for Arsene. Has encouraged us to spend, encouraged us to invest, on the training centre, on the long term things, on buying Mesut Özil.
“That’s what he wants, he wants us to win, he wants us to progress. If this was just about money, this is a nonsensical investment… There are better ways to make money than to invest in a football club.”
