It has been reported that Louis van Gaal was delighted with his Manchester United side as they handled the Anfield pressure well on Sunday.
?United defeated arch rivals Liverpool 2-1 to move clear in fourth position on the Premier League table and the manner of the victory was something that resonated well with van Gaal.
?Goals from Juan Mata in the 14th and 59th minutes – either side of Steven Gerrard’s red card in the 46th minute – had United with a comfortable lead but according to van Gaal their play did not show it.
?However, the Red Devils pushed past the nervy moments to eventually come away with a morale-boosting win much to the light of the Dutchman.
?“In spite of the pressure from Liverpool we kept the ball and we could create a lot of possibilities – not big chances, but possibilities to score,” he told Sky Sports.
?“I said in advance ‘who can beat the pressure shall win’.”
?Daniel Sturridge pulled one back for Liverpool in the 69th minute to create some extra pressure but United held strong to record a memorable win for the Old Trafford club.??
