Reports are out claiming that Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte is keeping Manchester City at arm’s length.
City are ready to sign Laporte on the urging of incoming coach Pep Guardiola.
However, Sport claims that the defender’s priority is a move to Barcelona – and he knows they’re keen to sign him.
The problem is Bilbao’s €50 million valuation. City are happy to meet the asking price, but Barca see the assessment as excessive.
City are pushing to do a deal for the Frenchman and would be willing to even allow the defender to remain a year on-loan with Athletic.
However, Laporte still hopes Barca and Bilbao can find common ground over his price.
Arsenal and Manchester United also also said to be keen on the French defender.
