Reports are out claiming that Manchester City players won’t be surprised if a bid is lodged for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The Daily Mail reported that City are considering a move for Wilshere as part of their plans to add more Englishmen to Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Englishmen Micah Richards and James Milner have both left City this summer, along with Frank Lampard, who joined sister club New York City FC.
That leaves goalkeepers Joe Hart and Richard Wright along with ex-Arsenal full back Gael Clichy as the three remaining homegrown players.
City’s existing players have been told to expect a number of new faces in the squad next season and Wilshere’s name has been mentioned.
However, whether Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will entertain the notion of allowing another one of his key men move to last season’s Premier League runners-up is another matter.
