It has been reported that the Manchester United board is standing by Louis van Gaal.
The Daily Mail claims that he will fly back to England on Tuesday morning to take training before holding talks with the Manchester United hierarchy.
The manager will be told by the board that they want him to stay until at least the end of the season – and Van Gaal is set to remain in charge for Friday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Derby County.
Despite supporters calling for his head, United want to avoid a mid-season sacking. Ed Woodward, the club’s executive vice-chairman, would rather look for a replacement during the summer despite their recent slump.
