It has been reported that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal admits David de Gea is off his game.
The Spanish international has been unsettled by his on-off move to Real Madrid.
“I don’t know the solution with De Gea,” said the Dutchman.
“I cannot lead this process, I can only watch and observe and that is what I’m doing. I’m not participating in it.
“But he shall not play. I don’t have any concerns. He won’t start the game.
“I think a human being is more than only a player. He cannot manage it. You have to wait and see who plays.
“We have seen in training and matches and he is not the De Gea of last year. He tries, he does his upmost best, but it is a difficult situation.
“Now we have to play our first match and this is the most important match so I want players who can only focus on the match.”
