It has been reported that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has no regrets selling Danny Welbeck to Arsenal.
The Dutch tactician claims that even if he had kept Welbeck he would still not be a regular at United.
“He could have [continued] playing for Manchester United,” he said, “but we decided that he could go and he has benefited from it. I think that any player who is playing regularly in a team will always develop. He is now benefiting from playing every week. That was a question mark with Manchester United.
“It’s good to see he’s doing what I thought he would [at Arsenal]. I cannot judge him so well because I haven’t seen him play but now I shall see him I can judge him.
“But I don’t think it is so important how I judge him because he is now playing for Arsenal. He’s not a Manchester United player anymore so now we have to beat him also. But he’s not alone, we have to beat Arsenal.”
