It has been reported that Manchester United chiefs accept David de Gea won’t be signing a new contract.
The Daily Mail says it is understood that United have all but given up now of persuading goalkeeper De Gea of signing a new contract at Old Trafford.
De Gea’s immediate future at the club remains in doubt. Real Madrid are still keen to sign him but United have told them that the only way that can happen is by way of a straight swap for their own central defender Sergio Ramos.
United will not consider a cash deal for their goalkeeper so unless Real cave in and agree to let Ramos go De Gea will definitely stay at Old Trafford until next summer when he will be available for free.
A United source said: “That is the one thing that we don’t think will happen. It is possible that David could stay now but it’s very unlikely he will sign a new contract with us.”
