It has been reported that Manchester United are weighing up a shock move for unsettled Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen.
The Mirror revealed that Vertonghen’s Tottenham future is in doubt – with Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal weighing up a January move for the player.
Belgium international centre-back Vertonghen is unsettled at the White Hart Lane club, having become frustrated at a lack of regular Premier League starts under their first-year manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Vertonghen flourished at Ajax under Ronald de Boer, who had been Pochettino’s main rival to replace Tim Sherwood as Spurs boss.
De Boer is a close confidante of Van Gaal’s, and a firm believer in Vertonghen’s abilities.
