Sensational transfer news are out and it has been reported that the race to sign Carlos Tevez is on after he rejected a 5 year contract offer from Manchester United and it is believed that the answer could be just a few miles across the city.

It is reported that Manchester City’s Arab owners will back boss Mark Hughes in any bid to sign the Argentine striker, and they would have no problem raising the £25.5million fee or matching wages of over £100,000 a week.

Liverpool and Chelsea are also believed to be in the frame and the advantage they have is that they can offer Tevez another crack at Europe but City’s Abu Dhabi-based owners have the money to see them all off.

City were quoted as 10-1 ON favourites to sign Tevez, who was the only United player not to return to Manchester from Rome after last month’s Champions League defeat by Barcelona.

Eleven days earlier, he made an emotional farewell to United fans in his last match at Old Trafford, the Premier League title clincher against Arsenal.
