Transfer reports from Italy is out and it has been revealed that Premier League rich boys Manchester City have signed Serbian World Cup full-back Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio.
It is said that the Premier League paid 19million Euros (£15.9m) to secure the defender’s services and the club agreed the transfer after several hours of negotiations involving City’s Italian manager Roberto Mancini and officials of both clubs.
It is also believed that Lazio’s Italian rivals Juventus were also keen on the player, but it seems that they could not match City’s spending power, bolstered by the millions of their billionaire Abu Dhabi owner Sheikh Mansour.
Kolarov is known for his versatility and can be deployed at left-back and left midfield. He has made over 80 appearances for Lazio in three seasons.
The 24-year-old was part of the Serbia side that lost 4-1 to the Netherlands in the U21 European Championship final in 2007 before helping his country qualify for this year’s World Cup finals in South Africa.
