Manchester United went head to head with Premier League champions Chelsea at Old Trafford in their Champions League quarter finals second leg in which Manchester United defended their 1-0 aggregate lead.
United took the lead in the first half through Javier Hernandez, who had earlier seen a goal chalked off for offside, putting Manchester United 1-0 to double their advantage on aggregate.
Matters got worse in the second half for Chelsea when Brazilian midfielder Ramires was shown his second yellow for a foul on Nani.
Didier Drogba who came in for the out of form Fernando Torres made the scoreline 1-1 in the 76th minute taking the high ball on the chest and spins into a calm low finish.
It appeared that the goal had given Chelsea hope of a comeback but their celebrations was cut short immediately in the 77th minute when Park Ji Sung picked up a Ryan Giggs flick to blast the ball past Petr Cech to give United a 2-1 lead.
Manchester United now progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League and is set to face the winner from the Schalke Inter Milan match.
