Reports are out claiming that Manchester United are lining up a last minute bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.
With their Champions League qualifying hopes in the balance, United chiefs are ready to push the boat out to strengthen their defence before next week’s transfer deadline.
BILD reported that United boss Louis van Gaal is looking to take advantage of the crisis affecting the Euro and land the defender at what would appear to be a cut-price deal.
BVB want €50m for Hummels, which is now worth £37.3m – significantly less that it would have been with the exchange rate a few weeks ago.
The club captain is said to be unhappy in Germany after a shocking season for his side.
