Reports are out claiming that Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote’s season is over.
Tiote suffered a knee injury while with Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations.
“He had the operation on Sunday,” Carver told the Evening Chronicle.
“He’s in Qatar and because the surgeon who did his operation from Belgium on his thigh when he was at FC Twente is the guy who did the operation, so he is going to stay out therefore a little bit of recovery time and then come back.
“Communication is not great at the minute, so we are trying to get more and more, but I think he’ll stay there for a while.
When asked if he felt the Ivory Coast midfielder’s season was definitely over, Carver said: “I would have thought so, yes.”
