Ozil wants Arsenal Stay – Ralph Honigstein

Mesut Ozil’s contract is coming to an end with Arsenal but according to European football expert Ralph Honigstein the German star would prefer to stay in London, IF the club can agree to his demands.

Ozil is out of contract next summer and could leave the Emirates for free should he fail to sign on the dotted line.

“I think his preferred choice is very much to stay at Arsenal,” reports the Express.

“It’s down to him to make himself indispensable or at least attractive enough to get the kind of deal that he wants.

“I think Arsenal are still sort of weighing up their options, they perhaps haven’t pushed hard enough as he and his advisers would have liked.

“A different situation to Alexis Sanchez, who has very much made up his mind he is going to be off.

After a slow start, Ozil has hit form for Arsenal in recent weeks. The German who scored a spectacular volley against Newcastle last weekend has so far tallied three goals and five assists for the season.

Rumours of the Germany international moving to Manchester United have been circling for some time, but Honigstein has played down the speculation.

He said: “Mesut Ozil still wants to stay and I’m not sure he will find a better setup for him.

“I don’t think there is necessarily an option in the Premier League available, I don’t buy all these stories about Mourinho and Man United being interested in him, I just don’t think that’s credible.
