Sean Dyche expects striker Sam Vokes to once again be Burnley’s only absentee when Manchester United visit Turf Moor. Wales international Vokes has a long-term knee problem but was back doing some running on the grass at the Clarets’ training ground this week. Dyche will likely recall a number of players who were rested in the Capital One Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, including goalkeeper Tom Heaton, long-serving defender Michael Duff and striker Danny Ings.
Man Utd are still awaiting a work permit for new signing Marcos Rojo so will be without the Argentina international. With Chris Smalling also sidelined with a groin injury, United will have to use Tyler Blackett alongside Phil Jones and Jonny Evans in defence again, with Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia the likely wing-backs if they stick with a 3-5-2 formation given Luke Shaw and Rafael are both out. Ander Herrera is missing along with Michael Carrick so Angel Di Maria could partner Darren Fletcher in midfield.
