Spain national team coach Vicente Del Bosque has revealed that the door is still open for Real Madrid striker Raul to force his way into their World Cup squad.
The legendary forward has struggled for first-team football since coach Manuel Pellegrini’s arrival in the summer and his chances of making Del Bosque’s squad appeared to be all-but over.
However, the Del Bosque told reporters that he has a personal appreciation for Raul and that he is not talking about tributes as Raul is a player that he could select.’
One possible rival for Raul’s place in the squad may be in-form Barcelona attacker Pedro.
Del Bosque added that Pedro is a possible World Cup player with or without the goal he scored against Estudiantes (in the Club World Cup final).
Del Bosque also said that there are a number of talented players in his position, but Spain have six months to make the best decision.’
