It has been reported that AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has been barracked by fans since his return to action.
A top target for Manchester United, the Dutch international is being blamed for Roma’s goal conceded in their Champions League draw with CSKA Moscow.
Roma management are eager to keep Strootman away from United’s clutches, but fear the boo-boys could drive him into their arms.
“The criticism of Strootman is disrespectful, even towards coach Rudi Garcia it is too far,” said Roma chief Walter Sabatini.
“He must again get fully fit by playing such games and not staying at home when we win 3-0.
“I encourage everyone to judge their words and to accept that they went too far criticising a top professional like Strootman.”
