Reports have emerged claiming that Santos have requested FIFA suspend Barcelona star Neymar for six months.
Santos claim the player has violated the FIFA Disciplinary Code and have also requested €55 million in damages, reports Globoesporte.
They base their claim in a violation of article 62 in the FIFA Disciplinary Code relating to corruption. Santos accuse the player of “bad faith” and breaking the FIFA agreement that covers the transfer of players (Regulations of the Status and Transfer of Players – RSTP).
Santos president Modesto Roma confirmed to Radio Cope: “I submitted the appeal in the month of May.
“Despite being an idol, we denounce Neymar because there are things we aren’t happy with. During the transfer things weren’t done in an open and transparent manner. That’s been proven by the Spanish law courts and the Spanish tax authorities, as it has been likewise by the Brazilian courts. We understand that the administrative debate must be undertaken by FIFA, but there are irregularities and therefore FIFA should take the matter to arbitration.”
