It has been revealed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports of a setback in Jack Wilshere’s recovery from a fractured fibula and revealed he held talks with England manager Roy Hodgson to encourage him over the midfielder’s progress.
The 24-year-old has not featured for the Gunners this season after suffering the latest in a catalogue of serious injuries during training on the eve of Augusts Community Shield clash against Chelsea.
Wilshere underwent surgery in September and speculation grew last week that his rehabilitation was no longer on track but Wenger said : “That is the wrong information.
“He is looking good. I had a short chat with Roy Hodgson about him and reassured him that he is progressing well. I’m cautious [on a return date] but I will say four weeks.”
