Wenger Prepared To Spend To Overhaul Arsenal Squad

Reports are out claiming that Arsene Wenger is set to finally release the purse strings in a bid to overhaul his Arsenal squad.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Frenchman is ready to answer cries from the Gunners faithful and finally spend the money available to him this summer.

There has been talks that Wenger could be removed from the post he has held for two decades if Arsenal fail to win this season’s Premier League title.

With the North Londoners sitting 11 points behind Leicester City with eight fixtures remaining, it appears unlikely that the trophy will be making it’s way to the Emirates, which some outlets indicate could spell the end for Wenger.

But Arsenal chiefs are open for him to stay in the role if he opts to spend up on new players this coming off-season.

It is understood that the 66-year-old is now ready to splash the cash in a bid to welcome top quality signings, while allowing current key squad members to leave.

Varying reports suggest that Wenger will pursue the likes of Toni Kroos, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Victor Wanyama, Mario Gotze and John Stones, to name just a few.

Regarding those set to be sold, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s days as a Gunners appear to be numbered while ageing midfielders Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky, left-back Kieran Gibbs and goalkeeper David Ospina could all be discarded as Wenger strives to break a title drought that runs back to 2004.
